Next Event–Translation Workshop in Chad, Africa (September 3-20)

Bibles International Retreat (August 20-22)

The Lord gave us a wonderful time of retreat.  We retreated to a bed and breakfast called “The Shack,” located 1.5 hours north of Grand Rapids.  The rustic decor, the beautiful flowers, and the great food made The Shack a perfect place for rest and refreshment.  Pastor Robert Vincent (who brought his entire wonderful family) from Mt. Calvary tuned our hearts to praise God for being our strength, salvation, and song.  The Lord helped the BI staff to bond together and regroup as we discussed the past and set our sights on the future.  In addition to giving a testimony and two 15-minute devotionals, I was able to give a Plan of Action for my Text Production Department.  The Lord really helped me write this, especially being so new to the department.  I also praise the Lord for causing the BI staff to accept me so warmly.  I look forward to many years of ministry with them.

Bibles International Consultant Seminar (August 6-17)

The Lord gave us a wonderful two weeks of seminar.  Around 20 people attended the seminar, including both senior consultants, new consultants, and future candidates.   The latter group came to gain a vision for what BI is doing in Bible translation.  Among other topics, we discussed how we can develop our internship program, and we looked into many ways in which computers and the internet can increase our effectiveness and efficiency.  Though we were all tired at the end of the week, we were thankful to the Lord for the spirit of teamwork and unity that filled the air, and we gained a renewed excitement at the bright prospects of the ministry of Bibles International.  The needs are enormous, but the Lord is sending laborers, and He is enabling us to use them more and more strategically.

Baptist Mid-Missions Candidate Seminar (July 23-August 2)

The Lord graciously helped me through the candidate questioning process.  Then I began a long, but enjoyable, week of sessions designed to introduce me to BMM and to prepare me for missionary service.  It was a joy to get to know the wonderful staff at BMM and to become friends with the candidates of the 2007 class.
