It turns out that the Lord had another way to answer our prayers about my pain meds. Just after I posted the last blog, the doctor’s office called and said that MI law prohibits out-of-state doctors from filling prescriptions. So we had to figure out another plan. We didn’t want to go back to ER because of the astronomical charges that I would incur.
The pastor’s wife had the idea that I could go to her physician in town. It turned out to be a very providential appointment. The nurse asked the doctor to stay for one more appointment. He used to be a missionary doctor in Bangladesh and Togo and now goes once a month to Haiti, so the nurse knew we should connect. I found out that he used to work with the Washers in Togo, and he knows the Thompsons and the Champeons at BI.
He prescribed some more pain meds for me, but he also prescribed some muscle relaxers–something that the ER doctors should have done. My muscles freeze up whenever I try to stand, causing terrible pain. So the relaxers should stop that. Dr. Ten Haaf also gave me some good words of advice as I prepare to see the specialist on Thurs, words that I definitely needed to hear.
So, this day-long ordeal concerning the pain meds ends up having a happy ending. Praise the Lord for His marvellous guiding hand! Thanks for the prayers!
I’m so sorry to hear of your accident! Robert and I are praying for you. God can and does work in mighty ways, and although it’s painful, I’m glad to hear that you’re using this experience to draw closer to Him.
I’m so thankful that God is helping you and that the pain is subsiding somewhat. You are able to stand more and do some ordinary every day things. The Lord is good and He is going to work all of this out for His glory.
